Multi-Car Accident on Port Mann Bridge: Major Delays, Several Injuries

Looks like ICBC is going to have their hands full again due to the new Port Mann Bridge.  At least a dozen vehicles were involved in a multi-car pile up on the Port Mann Bridge this morning due to fog and icy conditions on the bridge.

Traffic was delayed in both directions as emergency crews attended to motorists and cleared the accidents.

Several injuries were reported but it does not appear anyone was seriously hurt.

This is the second major incident to occur in less than a month on the new bridge.  Last month a snow storm caused ice to build up on the support cables of the bridge and chunks of ice fell on passing cars injuring several people and damaging dozens of vehicles.   ICBC last reported that over 250 vehicles had made claims arising out of last month’s incident.
